A Lagos-based commercial bus driver got more than he bargained for at the weekend when a celebrity popular called Aremo Gucci shot him on his ankle during an open party in Lagos.
Trouble started after the open air party organised at Brainfield Event Centre along LASU/ISHERI road had ended and organisers and guests were trooping out when suddenly Gucci’s vehicle was, as usual, besieged by a group of street urchins popularly known as Area Boys.
As soon as he noticed the crowd around him, and in order to find his way out in his Range Rover, Gucci was said to have pulled out a pistol and shot the driver on his leg.
The driver, who identified the trigger happy entertainer as a Yahoo boy, was immediately rushed to nearby Igando General Hospital by two unidentified ladies where medical personnel on duty treated him and subsequently referred him to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for the pellet buried inside the leg to be extracted.
The victim, who was bleeding profusely even after the first aid treatment, said he was resident at Igando Phase 1.
In a brief chat with newsfieldglobal amid tears, the victim said he merely approached the celebrity to beg for money to enable him eat since he had been out of work for some day following his inability to fix his vehicle. According to him, “People should please help me. I am not a criminal. Aremo Gucci shot me. I only approached him to help me with money to eat, I was not even aggressive, and I was not the only person. Just as we were appealing to him, he suddenly pulled out a pistol and shot me.”
